The California Department of Fish & Wildlife reported on Friday that a male radio-collared wolf known as OR-25 entered California's remote Modoc County from Oregon in December. This news comes almost exactly 4 years after OR-7 became the first confirmed wolf in California since the 1920's, and only a few months after the confirmation that 7 wolves (the "Shasta Pack") now reside near California's Mount Shasta (see news stories below).
OR-25's arrival makes him the state's 8th known resident wolf. In response to the growing population, the CDFW recently released a draft of its comprehensive wolf management plan. The plan is open to public comment until Feb 15, 2016.
